It is at the foot of Pyrenees and more precisely at the heart of theAriège en Occitania, where one of the smallest prefectures in France is located: the city of Foix. Its county town, dominated by its fortified castle and its three dominant towers, is home to pretty, colorful medieval streets and a rich history in its center.

The Regional Natural Park of the Ariège Pyrenees

The town of Foix became City-Gateway to the natural park in 2019. Once you arrive, you are at the gates of the Regional Natural Park and, more precisely, of the Barguillère valley about fifteen kilometers long, from East to West, and bringing together 9 municipalities.
The Regional Natural Park aims to respond to major challenges based on sustainable development, and in particular the preservation of living heritage, a united and essential action for our region.
