Can't miss this mountain that looks like Mount Fuji when its slopes are covered with a large white blanket. Mont Fourcat, located in the heart of Ariège, in Occitania, peaks at 2 meters above sea level and offers spectacular panoramas of the Pyrenees mountain range and the surrounding valleys. To reach the summit, you will have to hang on and prepare your legs for this climb, but believe us, you will not be disappointed.
Location
Mont Fourcat finds its place between 3 Ariège territories : Cathar Pyrenees, Ariège Pyrenees et Foix Ariège Pyrenees. It is the first visible summit on the Toulouse / Andorra axis and presents itself as a real gateway to the Pyrenees mountain range.
Located only 30 minutes from Foix by car (hiking departures), Fourcat offers the possibility of accessing breathtaking landscapes without losing too much time on the journey, from Toulouse for example.
Access to Mont Fourcat
In contrary to the peaks of Prat d'Albis, Mont Fourcat is not directly accessible by car. Reaching its zenith is both a sporting and contemplative adventure.
Enjoy a hike with a view 😍

A real playground for trail running
During your ascent, you will surely come across on the trails Trail runners training uphill and downhill. It is a real playground for trail running with its spectacular and varied landscapes!
And for those who like a challenge, in June, you can try to climb Mont Fourcat in trail mode! A large 25 km loop invites you to climb its more than 1600m of elevation gain to reach the summit and its breathtaking view of the Pyrenees mountain range and the entire valley.

At the top of Mont Fourcat
Once you have chosen your route and 2001m altitude reached, now let's talk about what awaits you at the top, after so much effort!
Mont Fourcat is the snorthernmost peak of the Tabe massif chain. From its highest point, there is a succession of ridges and peaks, including the Han Peak and Pic Saint-Barthélemy until Soularac Peak. On the northern slopes of the massif extend the slopes of the resort of Mont d'Olmes skiing, visible from the summit of Fourcat.

You will start your tour by a good climb in the forest, among the fir trees before coming out to admire the mountain ranges of Haute-Ariège.

Believe us, you will be well rewarded with the absolutely breathtaking 360° view on the massifs of Haute-Ariège, on Foix, nestled at the foot of the Plantaurel ridges and Prat d'Albis and, in clear weather, up to the Toulouse plain.

And if the sky is not azure on the day of your ascension, do not be discouraged, with a little luck, you may live the wonder of a sea of clouds, where the peaks become the islands of a cottony sea…
